Where does Root Bottom Farm's food go?

We are in the middle of a beautiful time on the farm. Our plants are bursting with life and overflowing with food.
Where does all the food go?
On Tuesdays we sell our produce at the West Asheville Tailgate Market on Haywood Rd from 330-630pm.  On Saturdays, we sell our produce at the Madison County Farmers & Artisun Market at Mars Hill University from 9am-1pm.

On Fridays, Morgan does restaurant deliveries in Asheville. Currently, we have accounts with the following delicious establishments: The Glass Onion, Plant, The Junction, The Admiral and Farm Burger
On Fridays, we also do our ESA deliveries. What is an ESA, you might ask? I invented the ESA (E-mail Supported Agriculture) concept for busy folks who can't make it to a farmer's market, but still want to eat well. Unlike a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture), where you get a large amount of produce every week no matter what, there is no requirement to buy each week. Also, you get to choose what you want each time, like you are shopping at a farmer's market. We offer a weekly selection of what the farm has via e-mail and then we deliver to five local businesses in Madison County Friday afternoon. Currently, we have 20 members and we deliver to folks at two rafting companies, an art gallery, a real estate firm and a local restaurant.

We also pay our volunteers in our green currency for work trade on the farm. We are lucky to have Lisa, Justin, Jenny and Taylor help on different days throughout the week.

AND then...everything that is left over...goes to the farmers.
Team flannel at Root Bottom Farm Friday Harvest. Thanks for all the support!!
Here is our market board for a busy Friday harvest
(for restaurants, ESA and Saturday's Farmer's Market)

 We love basil
I always knew I was destined to be a farmer....luckily I figured out which way the plant was supposed to go. Everwind Farm - 1984.
Old timers say your corn should be "knee high by the 4th of July" and my Dad says "don't plant your corn until a maple leaf is a big as a squirrel's ear." 5ft tall Kathleen for scale. Taken on July 4th.
Some garlic varieties are dried and ready for trimming and polishing.

Mason jars of the week for both markets.
 We drop mad beets!!
Our giant pumpkin is going insane!! It is only July and the fruit is bigger than a basketball. "Guaranteed 100 lb fruit" the package says. We are only growing it for a photo prop for my friend's kids this Fall :).

 Tomatoes are looking good.
 Annual field.
Kale yeah!!

Staying busy on the flower side of things. Weeding, tilling, mulching, designing, laying landscape fabric and preparing for the big perennial planting from all the little starts in the greenhouse this upcoming week.
 Tilled and ready for fabric.
New garden next to house with a brick lined walkway (soon to have gravel) and a big tilled bed.
The whole process.

Now I know what it is like to shovel 3 yards of mulch. I need 3 more...
 Mulch, mulch and more mulch.

Madison County. Love where you live. Love what you do.
